Gun factory uncovered in Benue
Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Benue State
police command have uncovered a factory where locally made firearms,
particularly short guns, are produced.
A man described by the police as a specialist and manufacturer of
deadly arms, identified as Sunday Odoh, was arrested in a surprise raid
launched by the police on the depot at about 6.am, Sunday...
Sources hinted that the raid on the factory located in a dingy area
along Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of the state, followed
intelligence reports.
Confirming the discovery, the Public Relations Officer of the state
police command, ASP Moses Yamu, said several items including a machine
used for constructing guns, various sizes of pipes, gun accessories, and
empty shells of cartridges were recovered from the scene.
“The suspect is in custody and investigation is in progress. It is a
major breakthrough in our efforts at checkmating the proliferation of
arms and ammunition within the society and Benue State in particular,”
he remarked yesterday on telephone
